The 2nd Symposium on Fusion Materials was held on 17 June 2011 at Fukuoka Garden Palace in Fukuoka. The Symposium was opened by Professor Takashi Kato (The University of Tokyo, Project Leader) who outlined the research scope of the project. The leaders of each of the three research teams - Professor Masato Kakihana (A01 Team Leader, Tohoku University), Professor Sadahito Aoshima (A02 Team Leader, Osaka University), Professor Hiroaki Imai (A03 Team Leader, Keio University) - introduced the research goals and the member composition of their respective teams with three researchers from each team providing a short presentation on their current work. The Symposium closed with an Invited Lecture from Professor Susumu Kitagawa (Kyoto University). About 130 attendees participated in the Symposium.
