The 1st Symposium on Fusion Materials was held on 22 January 2011 at Takeda Hall, The University of Tokyo. The Symposium was opened by Professor Takashi Kato (The University of Tokyo, Project Leader) who explained the outline of this project. Professor Sadahito Aoshima (A02 Team Leader, Osaka University), Professor Hiroaki Imai (A03 Team Leader, Keio University), Professor Masato Kakihana (A01 Team Leader, Tohoku University), and Kiyofumi Katagiri (A03, Nagoya University) followed with results of their research. Additionally, Professor Kazunari Akiyoshi (Kyoto University) and Professor Kazuyuki Kuroda (Waseda University) provided Plenary Lectures. About 200 attendees participated in the Symposium.
